American Flies in to Run for St David's Foundation

Howard Edelstein is an American who likes to run races, and he particularly likes to travel and run races such as the Bupa London 10k, as he gets to see the sights of the city along the route.
Last year, Howard’s mother sadly died of cancer. During the last few months of her life, Montgomery Hospice cared for her and the family, in their home town of Maryland.
Howard said that “Prior to this I had not dealt with a hospice, and was totally overwhelmed by how much each staff member gave of themselves. Their concern and hard work to keep my mother as healthy and comfortable as possible was overwhelming. It gave me an incredible appreciation for the men and women that work for hospices. It must be so emotional for them to work with terminally ill people, but still they do it with a positive attitude and true concern for each patient.”
For this reason, Howard decided to raise funds for St David’s Foundation Hospice Care by running the Bupa London in May. He flew in from America, took part in the race and then flew back a few days later. He enjoyed the experience and said afterwards
“To be able to run for such a worthwhile organisation as St. David’s Foundation makes it so much more worthwhile.”
Kris Broome from St David’s Foundation said, “We appreciate all types of fundraising support and when Howard first made contact we thought it might be a practical joke (Spam)! However, after having various e-mail communications with him we soon realised that he had a personal connection with Hospices. We very much appreciate Howard's support and look forward to hearing from him in the future.
If you would like to run to raise money for St David’s Foundation, they have a number of races lined up for the year. The Santa runs on 12th and 19 December are particularly popular.
Another option is The Twilight Memories Walk on 12th September. A gentle stroll through tranquil surroundings around Tredegar House in memory of lost loved ones.
St David’s Foundation also have a number of team events coming up, including the infamous Dragon Boat Race on Sunday 14th June and the Monmouth Raft Race on Sunday 26th September, to name a few.
